  李一足,名夔,未详其家世。有母及姊与弟。貌甚癯,方瞳,微髭。生平不近妇人。好读书,尤精于《易》,旁及星历医卜之术。出常驾牛车,车中置一柜,藏所著诸书,逍遥山水间。所至人争异之。

  天启丁卯至大梁,与鄢陵韩叔夜智度交。自言其父为诸生,贫甚,称贷于里豪;及期,无以偿,致被殴死。时一足尚幼,其母衔冤十余年。姊适人,一足亦婚,母召其兄弟告之。一足长号,以头抢柱大呼。母急掩其口。不顾,奋身而出,断一梃为二,与弟各持,伺仇于市,不得;往其家,又不得;走郭外,得之。兄弟奋击,碎其首。仇眇一目,抉其一,祭父墓前。归告其母,母曰“仇报,祸将及!”乃命弟奉母他徙,遂别去。

  时姊夫为令干兗,往从之。会姊夫出,姊见之,惊曰:“闻汝击仇,仇复活,今遍迹汝,其远避之。”为治装,赠以马。一足益恚恨,乃镌其梃曰:“没棱难砍仇人头。”遂单骑走青齐。海上见渔舟数百,泊米市,一足求载以济。遂舍骑登舟,渡海至一岛,名高家沟。其地延袤数十里,五谷鲜少,居民数百户,皆蛋籍,风土淳朴,喜文字,无从得师。见一足至,各率其子弟往学焉。其地不立塾,晨令童子持一钱诣师,师书一字于掌以教之,则童子揖而退。明日,复来。居数年,积钱盈室。辞去,附舟还青州,上狭邪。不数日,钱尽散,终不及私。

  甲申后,闻一足化去。先一日,遍辞戚友,告以远行。是日,鼻垂玉筋尺许,端坐而逝。袖中有《周易全书》一部。

  论曰:古今传神仙事多怪诞。一足为报父仇遂仙去,然则神仙必由于忠孝哉!吾独怪其以击仇不死,悲愤穷蹙,竟窜身海外,复极幽遐辽远之游。夫岂专避祸亦其之所存终不能一息安也卒之既化而持梃观水得道之后此心不忘不亦悲乎然事之济否则天也子房博浪之恨千载而下可胜道哉!(节选自《清代散文名篇》)
