Besides his famous speech “I Have a Dream”, Martin Luther King is still well known for his work of nonviolent movements for black people. In 1955, Martin Luther King won national recognition for his non-violent methods used in a bus boycott in Alabama. Under his guidance, this peaceful boycott changed the law which required black people to ride in the backs of buses. While planning a multiracial Poor People’s March for anti-poverty legislation, he was shot and killed in Tennessee.
